Betty produced a large number of pieces of paper with her calligraphy so that we could all have a famous quote about love in our hands.  We each had an opportunity to read the quote and add to it any thoughts or interpretations.   We had several discussions about what caring and loving means to each person… not so much romantic love which St. Valentine’s day famously promotes.  We talked about all kinds of love… even love of pets and included at one point in the discussion, love of Pizza.

Here is an example of Betty’s conversation starters.

Love consists in this, that two solitudes protect and touch and great each other — Rainer Maria Rilka

Love is the fabric of life, without it we have nothing but tangled, shredded, ravelings that knot or scatter.  Live is so short. love is so rare, accept it.

If we really want to love, we must learn how to forgive –Mother Theresa

The world is full of beauty when the heart is full of love.

In your light I learn how to love — Rumi

The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart.

I have decided to stick with love, hate is too much to bear  —  Martin Luther King

When the power of love overcomes power, we will have peace.

To love others, you must love yourself.

At the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet.

The heart wants what it wants.

Think about them.  If you want to talk more… come visit us on Sunday.

Peace,

Rick
