Sanctuary Movement

CINCINNATI: On Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, more than 150 people from dozens of local faith communities were trained in how to form a sanctuarycongregation movement. The specific goal was to train clergy and core leaders on sanctuary - the act of providing safe places for immigrants and other people who feel endangered in this country. According to Troy Jackson, the director of the Amos Project and host to this event, a sanctuary coalition needs to be started in the Cincinnati area to help provide immigrants and others "a safe place for a night, a week, a month, whatever it takes." The newly formed coalition will work together to provide sanctuary as needed. On January 8, 2017, the new coalition will hold a public event as a show of support for immigrants.
